About
Biography
Levi Duren was born in Huntington Beach, California and began playing music with his grandpa James at an early age. This gave him a first sense of the way music can touch the heart and the mind all at once.
His first performances were in church music, going as far as to join the Biola University Conservatory of Music in 2011. There he played with a variety of folk projects including "The Goons" and "Stag" in the height of the folk wave following the path of groups like Mumford and Sons.
In 2012, Levi joined the band Creekwood, a newgrass Americana band, playing drums and joining its powerhouse songwriting team consisting of Andrew McBride, Cooper Nelson, and Mathias Chaidez. They released the album, "2000 Miles West" in 2015. The band eventually took its hiatus in 2016.
He joined the Ocdamia Music Group roster in 2019 and plays frequent private events throughout Southern California, often as a guitar/violin duo with Creekwood's Mathias Chaidez, and as a solo guitar and vocal act.
Levi's music entered a new era as he became enamored with funk and fusion music groups like Snarky Puppy, Cory Wong, Lawrence, and others. Alongside a collection of remarkable musicians, he is now embarking on a solo project under the moniker "Levi Duren", and is writing and producing a variety of funk/rock songs and performing them throughout Southern California.
His music captures the soul and depth of blues, while exploring the groove and hype of funk. Stream Levi's music, see him perform, and join in the journey.
